Atlee Anderson, Jr., age 83, of Jonesville, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, May 30, 2025, at Gallatin Nursing and Rehab.
Known as Junior to his family and friends, he was born on November 11, 1941, to the late Atlee and Emma Cheeseman Anderson. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Florine Bethel, Don Andeson, Pat Hillenbrand, Bill Anderson, and Barbara Anderson.
Junior began his life in agriculture early, working on a local dairy farm as a young man. That experience sparked a lifelong dedication to farming. Over the years, he expanded into raising pigs and eventually built a career as a cattle farmer. His work was steady and consistent, grounded in long hours and deep knowledge of the land and animals he cared for. Farming wasn’t just a job for Junior—it was who he was. He believed in the value of hard work and was known in the community as someone who could be counted on and who didn’t shy away from the demands of farm life.
He will be missed by his wife of almost 38 years, Wanda Allen Anderson; his children, Kim Shumate, Dee (Steve) Skirvin, Kelly (Jason) Arnett, Tracey Anderson, Sue Isaacs, Debbie (Alex) James, Connie (Larry) Cavins, and Teresa Phillips; seventeen grandchildren, thirty two great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and his siblings, Dave Anderson, Bonnie Centers, Betty Moore, Brenda Sheers, Louise Kahmann, and Gary Anderson.
