Judy Hankins Jones

Judy Hankins Jones, age 82, of Florence and formerly of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at Emerald Trace in Elsmere, KY.

Born December 6, 1937, in the Hesler community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Raymond Howard and Willie Judy Hankins.  She was the widow of O.V. Jones and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Georgie Rose, Sybil Pierson, Fannie Whitton, Helen Bourne, Freida Bourne and William Howard Hankins. Judy was a graduate of Georgetown College and received her Masters of Library Science from Kentucky State University.  She was a librarian for over thirty years serving Owen County, Grant County, Muhlenberg and Pendleton Counties. She was a voracious reader and enjoyed playing cards.  Her favorite past time was travel, visiting all over the United States and overseas including her favorite destination, Israel.

She is survived by her children, Vicki (Butch) Page of Florence, Andrew (Michelle) Jones of Richwood and Matthew Jones of Florence; her grandchildren, Charles Burton, Jennifer Wood, Lauren Sandoval, Logan Jones and Caleb Jones and her great grandchildren, Kayla, David and Austin Burton and Grace Wood.  Also surviving are her sisters, Lucy Jacobs and Nancy Grisham.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held at 11am, Saturday, July 18, 2020 with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Please meet at the Main Street funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery. Masks and social distancing will be required. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Owen County Friends of the Library.
