Joyce Ann Mefford

Joyce Ann Mefford, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, went to be with our Lord, June 26, 2025, after a short illness. Born January 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late John Crowder Baldwin and Gertrude Thomason Baldwin. The youngest of 10 children, she was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Hazel (Rosco) Martin, John Howard (Mary Betty) Baldwin, Evelyn (Buster) Beatty, Lucille (Jimmy) Marston, Dorothy (Harry Todd) Marston, Dorman (Carolyn) Baldwin, Mary Baldwin, Ruth (A.J.) Houchens, Bobby (Nancy) Baldwin.

She is survived by her husband Ernest Durward Mefford. They were married on April 6, 1954, and had a long and loving marriage for over 71 years. She was a dedicated wife and mother and loved getting together with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by all. She is also survived by her daughters Jan Kelly and Mitzi (Ben) Meredith. Her grandchildren, Krista Onan, Ryan Onan, Shanna Kelly and her fiancee Shaun Croscup, Kyle (Gracie) Kelly, her great grandchild, Isaiah, and many nieces and nephews.

She was the postmaster at the New Liberty post office, and along with her husband they ran Mefford Hardware and Lumber Company for many years. She loved to refinish antique furniture in her spare time.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, the family asks that you make a donation to the childrens fund or your favorite charity or church.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends for visitation at the Main Street location on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor, David "Milkweed" Wotier and Pastor Jim Craigmyle presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
