Joyce Rose Dunavent

Joyce K. Rose Dunavent, 81, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 30, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence, KY.

Born March 29, 1943, in Oneida, TN, Joyce was the last living child of Ezra and Clara Keith Rose.  She was the widow of Glen Dunavent and also preceded in death by her son, Troy Marshall Hughett, and her siblings, Emma (Carl) Reed, Claude Rose, Faye (James) Jeffers, Lula (Ronnie) Smith, and Louise Phillips.  Joyce was a devout Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church member and retired from Owen Electric Cooperative.  Prior to Owen Electric, she worked for both Continental Can Co. and Reynolds Brands. She and her husband Glen were co-owners of Druther's, then Dairy Queen for many years. They loved traveling together and were proud to have visited the lower 48 states.  Joyce enjoyed reading but loved being with and nurturing her family more than anything.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Stacy (Jarrod) Lilly, Bart (Jan) Dunavent, and Kevin Dunavent; grandchildren, Clay, Kirk, and Savannah Lilly, Andrew, Anthony, and Aaron Dunavent, Andrew, Ian, and Olivia Viox; and nine great-grandchildren.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Sunday, June 2, 2024, from 4 - 8 pm.  Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church on Monday at 11 am with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church.
