Josephine "Josie" Hammonds

Josephine “Josie” Hammonds, 79, of Sanders, died Tuesday June 30, 2009 at the Kindred Hospital in Louisville, KY. Born September 10, 1929 in Boone County, she was the daughter of the late Goebel and Stella Gordy Hensley and was preceded in death by her husband Chester Hammonds. Josie was a homemaker and a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by her son, Billy Hammonds of Sanders; four daughters, Nancy Hammonds of Sanders, Joyce Jones of Owenton, Mary Lou Goodrich of Owenton and Shirley Wright of Carrollton; three brothers, Jr. Hensley of Owenton, Ellis Hensley of Owenton and James Hensley of Warsaw; two sisters, Virginia King of Owen County and Lena Asher of Williamstown. Ten grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street Location on Friday, July 3rd, from 11am - 2pm. Funeral Services will follow at 2pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier and Bro. David Bailey officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association.
