Jonathan Lee Fortner, 45, passed away Tuesday January 16, 2023. He was the son of the late Leslie and Geneva Oakes Fortner. He was a member of Owenton Methodist Church and was employed at Dorman as a Maintenance Technician for the past 13 years. He had been on the New Liberty Volunteer Fire Department for 15 years. He loved hunting and fishing and riding 4-wheelers. He also was a farmer raising cattle, horses, hay and tobacco. He always had a big garden and loved hosting annual fourth of July parties and bonfires. He enjoyed working on vehicles and passed his knowledge of mechanics on to his kids. But mostly he loved spending time with his wife and kids. Surviving are his wife, Amber Whitaker Fortner, his five children, Jonathan Tyler (Hannah) Fortner, Matthew Taylor Fortner, Kaylee Elizabeth Fortner, Aydon Kylar Tisdale and Wade Lesyd Fortner, two grandchildren, Jolynn Marie and Jonathan Landon Fortner, two aunts, Hope and Dorothy Oakes, an uncle, Nathan Oakes and a cousin Dudley Oakes. Visitation will be on Sunday January 21 from Noon til 3PM with the funeral to follow at 3PM at the Seminary Street location of New Funeral Homes. Burial will follow at the family farm. Memorials may be made to Owenton Methodist Church.
