John A. Piper, Sr., age 89 of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, March 28th at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence. Born December 4, 1922, in Covington, he was the son of the late Pearl and Josephine Uphaus Pier and the widower of Ima Patricia Recker Piper. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Gene and Palmer Piper. Mr. Piper was a tool and dye maker and a member of the Independence Lions Club and the Saint Edward’s Catholic Church. Surviving are his sons, Johnny Piper, Jr. of Independence and Dave Piper of Bethlehem; his daughter Pam McMillin of Union; seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Saint Edward’s Catholic Church on Monday, April 2nd from 10am until Noon. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Noon with Father, Gerald Witzemann officiating.
