John "Nobe" Mahoney

John “Nobe” Mahoney, 82, of Worthville, died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at the Carroll County Hospital. Born August 24, 1926, in Henry County, he was the son of the late Alford and Ola Miller Mahoney and was preceded in death by his siblings, George, Charles E., Lloyd B and Mildred Mahoney and Aileen Lee. He was also preceded by his son Billy Rae Mahoney. Nobe was a farmer and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mary Blackburn Mahoney; two sons, Larry and Charles Mahoney of Moxley; two daughters, Deborah Daugherty of Worthville and Judy O’Donovan of Moxley; one sister, Alma Mahoney of Carrollton; one brother, Coleman Mahoney of Worthville; six grandchildren, Michelle Tucker, Tonja Sipple, Anthony Mahoney, Brannon Daugherty, Melissa Bourne and Shawna Mahoney. Eight great grandchildren also survive, Kortney and Mikayla Sipple, Kassie, Kayla and Kristy Stutler, Cameron Mahoney, Mercedes and James Peyton Bourne. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 26th, from 4pm until 8pm, at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held 10am Saturday, September 27th, at the Funeral Home with Bro. Pat Butcher officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the charity of one’s choice.
