John Wayne Curtis, age 78, was called home on Monday, January 29, 2024, where his beloved wife, Thelma Curtis, welcomed him with open arms.
Born November 23, 1945, in Georgetown, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Willis Mason and Geneva Mefford Curtis. John was preceded in death by his son, Jeremy Dale “JD” Curtis, and two brothers, Larry David Curtis and Glenn Louis Curtis.
Aside from spending time with family, John enjoyed his daily walks, hunting rabbits, coons, and squirrels, as well as watching Western shows and movies. John loved cracking jokes and he always had a story to tell. Some would say that is what they will remember most about him, his stories.
John will be deeply missed by his sister, Anita (Scott) Prows; his children, Tony (Georgia) Curtis, Micah (Tiffany) Curtis, Kimberly (Butch) Gose, and Melissa Curtis; his grandchildren, Dustin (Angie) Curtis, Mindy (Anthony) Sons, Michael Warren, Cory Warren, Lane Curtis, Cody Curtis, and Kelly Curtis; and his great-grandchildren, Landon Smith, Rylie Smith, Corbin Smith, Grayson Smith, and Jacob Sons; and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Memorial services will be held at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church on Friday, February 2, 2024, starting at 1pm with Pastor Milkweed Wotier officiating at 2pm.
