John Bernard Colligan

John Bernard Colligan, age 92, of Owenton, passed away Thursday, January 13, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, KY.

Born January 7, 1930, in Kenton County, KY, he was the son of the late Joseph Bartholomew and Berna Rattaman Colligan.  Also preceding him in death were his grandson, Joe Nunnelley, and his siblings, Joseph, Jim, Bernadine, and Patsy. Affectionately known to his family as Pops, he was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. John was a member of the St. Edward's Catholic Church and a lifelong farmer who raised beef cattle, hay, tobacco, and for a short time Hemp. He was also a skilled bulldozer operator and enjoyed rabbit hunting.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of over 63 years, Barbara Wuest Colligan; his children, John (Sabrina Spaulding) Colligan, Pat (Sam) Colligan, Mary Jo (Tony) Wainscott, Joe (Susan) Colligan, and Tom (Dana) Colligan; his grandchildren, Jason, Teresa, Charles, Stephanie, Karen, Bruce, Bridget, Michael, Abby, and Lana; twenty-one great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and his sister,  Maureen Endress.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangement. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 4 - 8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Monday at St. Edward's Catholic Church with Father, Michael Barth presiding.
