John R. Clifton

John R. Clifton, age 90, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at the Owenton Center.

Born January 26, 1929, in Henry County, KY, he was the son of the late Sollie and Edith Popp Clifton and was preceded in death by his siblings, Martha Clifton, Mary Ida Davis, Dave Clifton,  Sollie Clifton and Elvira Miller.  John was a member of the Squiresville Baptist Church and served his country in the United States Army. He was a former bus driver for Owen County Schools and a former member of the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed story telling, attending yard sales, and was talented at crafts and repairs.

John is survived by his wife, JoAnn Mason Clifton; his brother, Gene (Sarah) Clifton and nieces and nephews, Michael (Grace) Mason, Marc (Karmen) Mason, Wayne (Teresa) Davis, Susan (Jimmy) Gray, Pam (Doug) Criswell, Marsha (Billy) Kemper, Tim (Amanda) Clifton and Gloria (Bruce) Miller.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A graveside service will be held at 1pm Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the Owenton Cemetery.  Bro. Jimmy Gray will officiate and memorial contributions may be made to the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department.
