Joan Carolyn Hedrick

Joan Carolyn Hedrick, age 81, of Owenton, passed away Friday, January 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by her family.

Born September 15, 1940, in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late W.T. and Aretta Juett Neal. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Judy Neal and Larry Neal. Joan was a member of the Richland Baptist Church and retired as an accountant from the federal government. She enjoyed cooking and sewing, especially quilts for loved ones. She rarely missed an episode of Jeopardy and loved singing and laughing with her family. Among her favorite things, was being "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She will be missed by her husband of over 62 years, Donnie Hedrick; her children, Sally Anne Hedrick, Kristi Hedrick, and Stephen Hedrick; her grandchildren, Grace (Dalton Scroggins) Hedrick, Ryan (Amy) Watson, Kaitlin (Jamey) Purvis, and Sarah Hedrick; her great-grandchildren, Brianna and Brody McGahee and Grayson and Elizabeth Watson. Her sister-in-law, Sandra Neal, also survives.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, from Noon until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm.
