With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jimmy Marston on July 31, 2026, following a courageous battle. He was born on August 26, 1957, to the late James William Marston, Sr. and Delois Shelton Marston Clifton.
Jimmy spent his formative years in Owen County, where he distinguished himself as both a spirited student and a dedicated athlete. A proud graduate of Owen County High School, Jimmy's passion for sports was evident in football, basketball, and track. Among his proudest achievements during those years was the honor of receiving the Billy Ray Cobb Award—recognition of his skill, character, determination, and the encouragement he offered to others. After graduation, he attended Retts Electronic School while working part-time at UPS.
Jimmy was a hardworking man whose career reflected his dedication, craftsmanship, and entrepreneurial spirit. He devoted 27 years to Clark Equipment while pursuing his own business ventures, owning and operating Eagle Creek Satellite and Marston Bait and Tackle, where he enjoyed serving customers who shared his love of the outdoors. Jimmy was a valued employee of Kemper Construction as a Site Supervisor, where his leadership, knowledge, and strong work ethic earned the respect of his coworkers. Jimmy also served the community he loved for several years as an Owenton City Councilman.
Outside of work, Jimmy found his greatest joy on the water with a fishing pole in his hand. He made many fishing trips to Green River Lake and looked forward to adventures in Texas and Alaska, where he created lasting memories with family and friends. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Jimmy will be deeply missed by his children, Drew (Kelly) Marston, Phadra Marston, and Tonya (Glenn) Miller; his brother, Mike (Carla) Marston; and his beloved grandchildren, Kirstin Dunn, Miles Mullen, Hayden Miller, Tucker Miller, John Craig Marston, and Beau Marston.
Family will receive friends for visitation at the Main Street location on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 4 - 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 5, 2026, with Bro. Dale Adkins and Bro. Dale Griggs presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church or the OCHS Bass Fishing Team.
Jimmy will be remembered as a man who never shied away from hard work, valued time spent outdoors, and found happiness in building, fishing, and making memories with those he loved most.
