Jimmy D. Davis

Jimmie D. Davis, age 98, of Owen County, passed away on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 at the New Horizons Medical Center. Born January 31, 1913, in Owen County, he was the son of the late J.W. and Ava Reed Davis and the widower of Frances Johnson Davis. His siblings, Louis Davis, John William Davis and Anna Gibson, also preceded him in death. Mr. Davis was a farmer, a barber and a member of the Richland Baptist Church. Mr. Davis also served his country during WWII in the United States Army. Surviving are his sons, Allen Davis and Carl Davis both of Owen County; his sister, Hattie Vogelsang of Florence; four grandchildren, Jimmy Allen Davis, Sherry Ann Fitzgerald, Amy Courtney and Brittany Davis. Five great grandchildren also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, July 15 from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am with Bro. Charles Johnson officiating. Memorial Contributions may be made to Richland Baptist Church or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
