Jerry Chappell

Jerry Chappell, age 79, of Wheatley, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2021 at Signature Healthcare in Carrollton.

Born November 28, 1941, in Woodford County, he was the son of the late Richard Hayes and Anna Gertrude Hill Chappell.  He was also preceded in death by his son Lynn Chappell and his siblings, Rita Duvall, Dickie Chappell, and Ronnie Chappell. Jerry was a lifelong cattle and tobacco farmer.  He was a member of Dallasburg Baptist Church and a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge. He also coached softball for many years.

He is survived by his children, Maurice (Becky) Chappell, Glenn Chappell, and Neese (Tim) Chilton; his brother, David Chappell; his four grandchildren, Logan Baker, Nick (Eko) Chappell, Grace and Ben Chilton; and his great grandchildren,  Kemper and Kyelynn Chappell

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, April 1, 2021 from 11 am to 1pm for a pass thru visitation.  Masks and social distancing are required. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Bro. Pat Butcher officiating. Burial will be in the Wheatley Masonic Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Dallasburg Baptist Church. </p
