Jean Mildred Collins, born on June 30, 1937, in Maryland, peacefully passed away on August 20, 2025, in Owenton, Kentucky. With a life rich in experiences and cherished moments, Jean will be remembered not only for her warm spirit but also for the love she held for her family and friends.
Jean worked for many years in her career as a waitress at Big T Truckstop in New Jersey, where her friendly demeanor and caring nature delighted countless patrons. Raised on a farm, she cultivated a deep appreciation for nature, spending her days among chickens and milk cows, tending to her garden, and savoring visits to the beach. Her first job as a car hop sparked a lifelong passion for serving others. Jean found joy in playing Bingo and Blackjack.
She will be deeply missed by her surviving family members, including her beloved daughter Ella Jean Moon (Randall), son Wilson Wayne Collins, daughter Mildred Mae Popowich, daughter, Elizabeth Ann Barcus (Mike), and son, James Bernard O'Connor, twelve grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren, with one more on the way—a beautiful testament to her enduring influence and the love she fostered within her family.
Jean is preceded in death by her sons George Collins and Samuel Albert Collins, daughter Rebecca Lynn Collins, granddaughter Stacey, and great-granddaughter Kiara.
A memorial gathering will be held on August 25, 2025, from 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM at New Funeral Homes, located at 202 N. Main Street, Owenton, KY, 40359. Family and friends are invited to come together to celebrate Jean's life and the memories they shared.
