Jd Howard

JD Howard, age 90, of Bedford, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

Born January 25, 1933, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Gusta and Martha Howard.  He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet O'Banion Howard; his son, Jeffrey O. Howard; and his siblings, Thelma Simpson, Rachel Chapman, Norma Poe, Helen Howard, Sylvia Perkins, Hazel Simpson, Eula Mae, Herschel Howard, Floyd Howard, William "Pat" Howard, and Horace Howard. JD most recently attended Milton Baptist Church but was a member for over 40 years at Dallasburg Baptist Church where he was a deacon, choir member, and Sunday school teacher.  He worked in many capacities in his life, he was a farmer who raised dairy cattle and tobacco, helped Harold England build golf courses, and helped Jerry Stafford build greenhouses. He was passionate about music and enjoyed singing, playing guitar, and harmonica. Most of all he loved the Lord, his family, and his friends.

JD will be missed by his wife Lucille Howard; children, Greg (Ramona) Howard, Rick Howard, and Melanie (Jimmie) Cooper; eight grandchildren, Neesa Richardson, Alexa Morrison, Nathan Howard, Samuel Howard, Livia Seder, Kenyth Cooper, Jaden Cooper, AliyaCooper, Amanda Fox, and Bradley Ginn; eleven great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, January 19, 2024, from 5 - 8 pm.  Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Saturday at Dallasburg Baptist Church with Bro. Tom Hall, Bro. Keith Abrams, and Bro. Michael David officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested to Dallasburg Baptist Church
