Jay Congleton

Jay Congleton, age 82, of Owenton, passed away Tuesday, June 3, 2025, at Gallatin Nursing and Rehab with his two longtime friends, Patty Avriett and Marshall Beverly, in attendance.

Jay was born June 18, 1942, in Stanton, KY, to William Clayton Congleton and Mary Ruth McIntosh Congleton. He grew up and attended schools in Lexington, KY.  He worked in finance in the early part of his career.  He served as vice-president and president of First Farmers Bank in Owenton, KY, and during this time, he developed lifelong friendships. He moved to Orlando, FL, and worked in sales and service for several car dealerships. He moved back to Owenton in the 2000s and helped Marshall Beverly, the brother of his heart, open and run Marshall’s Repair Center, where he enjoyed interacting with and helping the friends he made over the years.

His favorite pastime was spending time bass fishing, supporting, and watching Kentucky girls’ basketball.

Jay will be missed by his three daughters, Kendra Webb, Kelly (Seth) Krusich, and Kristy (Seth) Young. Four grandchildren, Eric Piotrowski, Zosia (Ethan Johnson) Piotrowski, Lydia Krusich, Reid Young. One brother, Eddie (Barbara) Congleton, and several nieces and nephews; special friends, Marshall (Judy) Beverly, and Patty Avriett.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Jay's wishes were for no services. Inurnment will be in the Lexington Cemetery at a later date.
