Janet Sue Wilhoite

Janet Sue Wilhoite, born on February 3, 1947, in Frankfort, Kentucky, passed at Frankfort Regional Medical Center on August 20, 2025. Janet's life was defined not only by her career and passions but also by the significant roles she embraced as a loving wife, devoted mother, and cherished grandmother.

Janet dedicated many years of her working life as a typesetter for the News Herald. She later retired from the Owen County Property Valuation Administrator, where her meticulous work and commitment were highly regarded. Her professional journey exemplified her dedication and work ethic, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and the community she served.

A member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, Janet was a woman of faith who dedicated herself to her beliefs and community service. She had a passion for nature, particularly in growing flowers that brought beauty and warmth to her surroundings. An avid sports enthusiast, she took joy in watching UK Basketball and rooting for the Cincinnati Reds, sharing these interests with her family.

Janet found immense joy in the role of "Mamaw" to her grandchildren—Zach, Megan, and Katelyn—and cherished her time with them, often sharing laughter and wisdom. She was also known for her humorous remarks about 'keeping Buddy straight,' referring to her beloved husband, Billy C. "Buddy" Wilhoite, whom she shared her life with for many years.

Janet is survived by her husband, Billy C. "Buddy" Wilhoite; her son, Greg Wilhoite; and her grandchildren, Zach Ripy, Megan Wilhoite, and Katelyn Wilhoite. She was preceded in death by her parents, Porter and Eloise Criswell Yancey; her son, Marc Wilhoite; and her brothers, Billy Yancey and Darryl Eversole.

Visitation services will be held on August 22, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, at New Funeral Homes located at 202 N. Main Street, PO Box 474, Owenton, KY 40359, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM.
