James "Big Jim" Ware, 76, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. He was born in the Long Ridge Community on July 15, 1938 the son of the late Ben Franklin and Lenora Livers Ware and was raised by his grandparents Lee and Lula Rose. Jim was a faithful member of the Owenton Second Baptist Church and was a former construction and maintenance worker. He was dedicated to his community through his service on the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department and the Owen County Sheriff’s Office. Big Jim loved to laugh and make others laugh, he loved to bless others through his wonderful cooking and his secret BBQ sauce. He also had an avid love of blues music and BB King. He leaves to mourn his passing, his son David Allen (Stacey) Ware of Indianapolis; his daughter Paula (Terry) Stull of Selma AL; six grandchildren, Tasha, Michelle, Michael, Aaron “Lil’ Man”, Manny and Nathan; seven great grandchildren; a half sister Rete Perry and sisters Rita Ann Richardson and Marcia Bowling. Also surviving Big Jim are a host of loving extended family and friends. Jim said " God has called and I am leaving this day. Thru all my years I've enjoyed the trip. Love to all.” McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be Sat. Feb. 7 from 11 til 2 with the funeral at 2PM at the Second Baptist Church in Owenton. Burial will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made toward funeral expenses.
