James Alvin Smith

April 7, 1946 — February 24, 2020

James Alvin Smith, 73, of Poplar Grove passed away from a massive stroke on Monday February 24 in Carrollton. He was a machinist for Equitable Bag and then Duro Bag for 43 years. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Caroline Scott Smith and his daughter, Ann Christine Smith, siblings, Walter Lee (Connie) Smith, George Thomas (Linda) Smith, Mary Virginia (Bill) Lewis, Frances Wilhoite and Mayme (Bobby) Ping. Numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded by his parents, Alvin Sydney and Emma B. Gordy Smith.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 29 at 11:00 AM at the Poplar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Poplar Grove Cemetery Fund.
