James Griffith Samford

James Griffith Samford, 84, of New Liberty, died February 9, 2010 at Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. Born July 2, 1925, in Owen County, he was the son of the late James H. and Bessie Griffith Samford and the widower of Elsie Mae Snell Samford. Mr. Samford was a farmer, a member of the Oddfellows Lodge and a member of the New Liberty Baptist Church. He also worked at the Brightlight Tobacco Warehouse, weighing tobacco. He is survived by his daughter, Marilyn Samford of New Liberty; his son, James Len Samford of Covington and his granddaughter Shanna Godby of New Liberty. McDonald & New Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Friday, February 12th from 11am-1pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm, with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
