James V. “J.V.” Perkins, 75, of Owenton, passed away Monday, May 31st at his home. Born June 19, 1934, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Hollie Perkins and Lula Chapman and was preceded in death by two sisters, Beulah Methany and Mildred Dyer. JV was a carpenter and a member of the Christian Assembly of Nicholasville. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alma Wainscott Perkins; his son John (Ronissa) Perkins of Owenton; his daughter Karen Lunsford of Owenton; two brothers, Willard (Rachel) Perkins of Lexington and Evan (Dorothy) Perkins of Owenton; two sisters, Mary Lee (Doug) Lewis of London and Jane (Norvin) Cook of Owenton. Six grandchildren and three great grandchildren also survive. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location, Wednesday, June 2nd, from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Thursday with Rev. Carl King officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Bluegrass or the American Cancer Society.
