James Edward Metts, 66, of Owenton, passed away Thursday March 25, 2010 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. Born October 30, 1943 in Scott County, he was the son of the late Carlos Coleman Metts. James was a farmer, carpenter, truck driver and served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Scott County and an avid horseman. He is survived by his mother, Opal Mitchell Metts of Stamping Ground; two sons, James “Benji” (Linda) Metts of Gratz and William Coleman “Billy” Metts of Stamping Ground; a brother Kenneth Coleman (Betty) Metts of Frankfort; and two sisters, Betty Burchfield of Stamping Ground and Ruby (Alvin) Tuttle of Georgetown. McDonald & New Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Sunday, March 28th from 2-6pm. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 1pm with Bro. David “Milkweed” Wotier presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity or church of one’s choice.
