James "Jimmy" Edward Thomas

James Edward “Jimmie” Thomas, 72, of Sparta, died Thursday, April 30, 2009 at the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center. Born March 28, 1937, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Smith Edward and Lucille Noel Thomas and was preceded in death by his son, Jamie Thomas. Jimmie was a landscaper, farmer, KY Colonel and a member of Sparta Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Judy Young Thomas and his son, Jimmie Dick Thomas both of Sparta. Arrangements are being handled by McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Sunday, May 3rd, from 2-6 pm. Funeral Services will be held at 11 am Monday at the funeral home with Bro. David Wotier and Sister, Bonnie Gregory officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sparta Christian Church.
