James "J.D." Douglas Hammond

James Douglas "J.D." Hammond age 79, of Owenton, departed from him Earthly home to his Heavenly Home on Sunday, April 29, 2018 surrounded by his loving family.Born June 28, 1938, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Albert and Clemmie Rice Hammond and was preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Hammond, Jr. and Judy Bell.  J.D. was a retired heavy equipment operator for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, in the Transportation Department of State Highways.  He was a member of the Beechwood Assembly of God, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend.  He is survived by his wife, Alice House Hammond, who he married on November 23, 1963; his children, Paula (Tony) Fint, Troy (Shirley) Hammond, Matthew (Lana) Hammond and Mark (April) Hammond; his siblings, Johnny Hammond, Mary (RC) Swigert and Nellie Smith.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 11 am to 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Curt Smith presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to the Beechwood Assembly of God.
