James Thomas Gaines

James Thomas Gaines, age 76, of Owenton, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Born June 12, 1946, in Frankfort, he was the son of the late Hubert and Pauline Grime Gaines.  He was also preceded in death by his wife Eunice Osborne Gaines; his son, James Thomas Gaines, Jr.; and his brother, Harry Gaines.  James was a retired truck driver who loved tinkering with lawnmowers and cars.  He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his dog Lexie.  Most of all he cherished being "Papaw" to his grandchildren.

He is survived by his children, Jo Ann Berry; James Franklin "Peanut" Gaines, Robert Burke, Kim Brooks Vance, and Danielle Betts Rogers; his grandchildren, Hunter, Kinsley, Paislee, PJ, Chris, Marcus, and Leslie; and his mother in law, Juanita Osborne.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, from 4 - 5 pm.  Memorial services will follow at 5 pm with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding.  A farewell ceremony will follow the service at the Gratz Boat Dock.
