Jack Benny Courtney, age 70, passed away Saturday, February 13th at his home. Born May 25, 1939, he was the son of the late Homer and Lucille Kinman Courtney and was also preceded in death by his wife Carolyn Ballard Courtney whom he married on June 2, 1962 and a brother James Courtney. Jack Benny was a farmer, member of Glencoe Baptist Church, served on the Gallatin Co. School Board for 23 years and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He is survived by his daughters, Jackie Sargent (Rickey) of Napoleon and Cindy Flynn (Jack Edmondson) of Glencoe, three sisters, Clarice Alcorn and Janis Hill of Glencoe and Joyce Vest of Verona. Five grandchildren, Adam, Jannell and Joe Sargent and Amber and Curtis Flynn also survive. The funeral will be on Wednesday at 11:00 am and visitation on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm at Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home in Warsaw. Burial will be in Glencoe Cemetery and memorials may be made to the Gallatin Co. Resource Center or Hospice of the Bluegrass.
