J. W. Swigert

J.W. Swigert, age 85, of Owenton, died Wednesday, January 30, 3013 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington. Born October 23, 1927, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Kate Davis Swigert and was preceded in death by his sister Kathryn Inman. Mr. Swigert was a retired truck driver, a member fo the VFW and a member of the Cedar Hill Baptist Church. He also served his country during WWII in the Navy on the USS Roosevelt. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Margie Smith Swigert; his son, John Swigert; his daughters, Joyce (David) Bond, Carolyn (Martin) Polomski, Kathy (Terry) Spaulding and Charlotte (Jim) Hisle; two brothers, R.C. (Mary) Swigert and Robert Lee (Carolyn) Swigert; eleven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Thursday, January 31st from 11am until 2pm. Funeral services will be held at 2pm with Bro. Ken Collins presiding.
