Hershel "Huck" Glen Combs

Hershel "Huck" Combs, Jr. age 69, of Owenton, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at his home on April 22, 2025. Born on September 18, 1955, he was the son of the late Hershel Combs Sr. and Christine Beckham Combs.

Huck was a man of strong faith and deep roots. A devoted member of Remnant Baptist Church, he lived his life with quiet strength, a tireless work ethic, and a deep love for his family and the land. He retired as a lineman after years of dedicated service with Richardson Contracting and CR Cable, but his heart never retired from the work he loved — farming. Whether he was on his tractor or bushhogging a field, Huck found peace and joy in the land he tended.

He took special pride in the flowers he and his late wife, Ann Wagers Combs, had planted together — a lasting testament to their shared life and love. Huck also had a passion for target shooting and was known as the best shot in the family. Evenings were often spent with his loyal dog, Cooper, the two sharing a scoop of ice cream and quiet companionship.

Above all, Huck adored his grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Papaw Huck." His eyes lit up in their presence, and his love for them was boundless.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ann; his children, Hershel Glen "Bubby" Combs III and Katrina Marie Combs; grandchildren, Justin Snawder and Brian Chandler; great granddaughter, Evon and siblings, Clarence Gaines, Norman "Dob" Combs, Elizabeth Moore, Ruby Carmack, and Brenda Smith.

He will be deeply missed by his children, Maggie (Fred) Roberts and Jimmy (Rebecka) Combs; grandchildren, Victoria, Joseph, and Christopher Snawder, Montana (Christopher) Jacobs, Crystal Roberts, Bailey and Brooklyn Caldwell, Haley, Bella, Bree Combs and Eric Combs Jr., Lylie, Everett, Wesson, and Len Carpenter; great grandchildren, Kyrie and Audree as well as a host of extended family and friends.

New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Services will be held at Remnant Baptist Church. Family will receive friends for visitation on Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Darren Wolford presiding. Burial will be in the Combs Family Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to Remnant Baptist Church.
