Herschel Wayne O'Banion

Herschel Wayne O’Banion, 52 and a resident of Owenton, passed away Friday December 26th, at the Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington, KY. Born February 1956, he was the son of the late William Henry O’Banion and Ethel Jean Howard. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Perkins. Wayne was a retired employee of the University of Kentucky Experimental Farm (Central Bull Test) located at Eden Shale in Owen County. He is survived by his wife Marie Shaw O’Banion, two sons: Joseph Wayne O’Banion and Leslie of Owenton, Tony William O’Banion and Amanda of Owenton; one daughter: Zula Jane O’Banion and Doug Blackwell of Owenton; one brother: William Henry Vance O’Banion Jr. of Pendleton County, Ky; and four sisters: Evelyn Merrel of Alexandria, Ky., Margaret Collingsworth of Dry Ridge, Ky., Billie Barton of Independence, Ky., and Jodie Wells of Morning view, Ky. Five grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held Monday, December 29th, from 4 until 8pm at the Main Street location of McDonald and New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1pm with Bro. Dale Adkins officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
