Herbert C. Prather

Herbert C. Prather, age 74, of Owenton, passed away, Thursday, April 12, 2018 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood.Born December 12, 1943, in Owen County, he was the son of the late Justice and Carrie Wainscott Prather and the widower of Emogine Wagers Prather.  He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Arnetta Wagers, Curtis, Estil, Justice and Greenio Prather.  Herbert was a lifelong farmer, raising tobacco, cattle and horses.  He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed coon hunting until his health began to fail.  He is survived by his children, Billy Ray (Linda June) Prather, Peggy (Everett) Roberts, Annette (Kenny) Widener and Tammy (Larry) Hammonds; his grandchildren, Everett Floyd C. Roberts, Stacey June Miller, Crystal Ray Prather, Austin Billy Prather, Nicole Emily Sue Roberts and Kenneth Evert J. Widener; his great grandchildren, Brenna Raye and Brantley Allen Miller and his siblings, Betty Jean Davis, Paul Prather, Louise Brown and Raymond T. Prather.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, April 16, 2018 from 11am until 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1pm with Bro. Larry Adkins presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.
