Helen Virginia Edens

Helen Virginia Edens, 89 and a resident of Sanders, passed away Friday, October 17th, at the St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood. Born August of 1919, she was the daughter of the late Robert Sayle Garvey and Mary Virginia Bourne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Douglas Edens, and one sister-Dorothy Elaine Garvey. Helen was a member of the Sanders Baptist Church. She worked as a beautician, and later as Postal Clerk in Sanders from 1985 thru 2001. She is survived by two sons: Robert Benton Edens of Warsaw, Ky., and Jerry Ray Edens of Latonia, Ky. Three grandchildren also survive. Visitation for Ms. Edens will be held on Monday, October 20th, from 9-11am at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will begin at 11am. Susan Bryan and Hardin Lowe will be officiating. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Auburn Presbyterian Church located at 103 Wm. Howard Taft Rd. in Cincinnati, Oh. 45219.
