Helen Carlton Duncan

Helen Carlton Duncan, 91 and a resident of Warsaw, passed away Wednesday, July 15th, at the Gallatin Health Care Center in Warsaw. Born November 3, 1917 in Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Howard Ellis Carlton and Ola Mae Sutherland. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Doran Duncan and three brothers; Charles Everett Carlton, Harry Donald Carlton, and Wendal Carlton. Helen worked as Deputy Jailer in Gallatin County from the early 1940’s until 1994. She also worked as emergency services dispatcher in Gallatin County from 1971 until 2001. Helen is survived by a sister, Greta Marksberry of Warsaw, one nephew: Howard Lynn Marksberry, one niece: Tammy Proctor, and her close friend, Jerry Hunt. She is also survived by three great nieces and one great nephew. Visitation will be held Friday at the Garnett-New-McDonald Funeral Home in Warsaw from 5 until 8pm. Funeral services will be held Saturday at the funeral home and will begin at 2pm. Bro. Darrell Maines will be officiating. Burial will be in the Warsaw Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Warsaw United Methodist Church.
