Helen Hankins Bourne

Helen Hankins Bourne, age 80, of Owenton passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at the Hospice Care Center at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington. Born April 4, 1933 in Owen County she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Willie Judy Hankins. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Rev. Ralph Bourne, her infant brother, William Howard Hankins and her sisters, Georgia Rose, Syble Pierson and Freda Bourne. Mrs. Bourne enjoyed sewing, especially quilting. She worked for Senior Citizens of Northern Kentucky, the Remnant Room and provided child care for many years. She was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Mark (Vickie) Bourne of Owenton, Joy (David) Morgan of Owenton, Melody Rose Bourne of Lexington and Tim (Mary) Bourne of Lexington; her grandchildren, Brielle (Logan) Nielson, Misty (Casey) Ellis, Nathan (Amber) Gregory, Helen Jean Bourne and Maggie Bourne; her great grandchildren, Stella Nielson, Crosby and Fiona Ellis and Emma Gregory. Also surviving are her sisters, Lucy Jacobs, Fanny Whitton, Judy Jones and Nancy Grisham. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, March 10, 2014 from 3-6 pm. Memorial services will follow at 6pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Owen County Public Library, Oneida Baptist Institute or the charity of one's choice.
