Hazel B. Simpson

Hazel B. Howard Simpson, 89 and a resident of Owenton, passed away Thursday, August 6th, at the Owen Manor Care and Rehabilitation Center in Owenton. Born February of 1920, she was the daughter of the late Gusta and Martha Howard. Hazel was also preceded in death by her husband, James, 3 brothers: Herschel, Floyd, and Horace Howard; and three sisters: Eula and Helen Howard and Rachel Chapman. Hazel was a homemaker and member of the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters: Patricia Cook of Mt. Kisco, NY and Janice McGuire of Okeana, Ohio; two brothers: Noble Howard of Selma, In, and J.D. Howard of Owen County; three sisters: Norma Poe of Owenton, Sylvia Perkins of Owen County and Thelma Simpson of Grant County. Five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren also survive. Visitation will be held Sunday, August 9th, from 2pm until 6pm at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Homes. Funeral services will begin Monday at 11am. Rev. David Wotier and Rev. Maurice Traynor will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Owenton I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church or the Hospice of the Bluegrass.
