Hazel Louise Clifton of Owensboro, KY, passed away December 9, 2013. Hazel was born in Frankfort, KY on April 3, 1925 to William Goebel and Thelma Gladys Botkins. She is survived by four children; Lois Cloyd, Carolyn (Keith) Terry, Rose (Rudy) Castilla, and Marvin E. Clifton, Jr. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Marvin E. Clifton, daughter and son-in-law Janet and Glen Campbell, grandson Greg Terry, and brothers Carl, Rodman (Jim), Ray, and Clyde Botkins. Hazel worked as a nurse for many years in Mt. Carmel, IL and Ashland, KY. When she was in good health she was always active in her church teaching children, cooking, giving to those in need and caring for others. She also enjoyed traveling and has been to England, Mexico, Canada and many road trips with her husband when he was living. Hazel loved to paint and enjoyed working with her hands sewing, crocheting, and art projects. She was also an avid reader, enjoyed studying the Bible, loved to play cards, games, and was very good at both. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 12th from 11:30 to 1:30 EST with services to follow, both at McDonald & New Funeral Home 248 West Seminary St. Owenton, KY.
