Harry Thomas Gullion, Sr.

Harry Thomas Gullion, Sr., age 73 of Glencoe, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born January 11, 1948, in Kenton County, KY, to the late Emery Scudder and Lucille Glore Gullion. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn Jump and Timothy Gullion. He served his country in the United States Army as a combat engineer during the Viet Nam War. He went on to attend Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he obtained his degree.  He married the love of his life, Shirley Ann, on July 28, 1966, and celebrated over 54 years of marriage with her. Harry retired from USAir and DHL as an aircraft technician. He was a member of Dallasburg Baptist Church and served as a supply pastor for many churches in both KY and Indiana.  He also loved singing and listening to gospel music and one of his favorite activities was traveling to Dollywood for the Southern Gospel Convention.  Harry was devoted to his family, loved being "Grandpa", "Pa", and "Pawpaw" to his grandchildren whom he enjoyed several hobbies with including woodcrafts, leatherworking, jewelry making, and fly fishing.  He will also be remembered for being a car aficionado who loved building and drag racing, especially his 1969 Chevy Nova.

Harry will be deeply missed by his wife, Shirley Gullett Gullion; his children, Harry Thomas "Tom" (Carmen Craig) Gullion, Jr., David Preston (Candace Lee) Gullion, and Alesha (Asa) Phillips; his grandchildren, Mariah (Cody) Welte, Ashton Gullion, Shaun Gullion, Courtney (Greg) Humphries, Canaan Phillips, Abram Phillips, Amos Phillips, and Anniston Phillips; his great-grandchild, Westlyn Gullion; and his siblings, Dennis (Mary Lou) Gullion, Wayne (Gayle) Gullion and Teena (Terry) Shauger.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 11 am until 1 pm for a pass-thru visitation. Masks and social distancing are required. Funeral services, with limited seating, will follow at 1 pm with Bro. Wayne Gullion presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contribution can be made to Dallasburg Baptist Church. Live stream available here .
