Mr. Harold Perkins, age 89, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday November, 14, 2012 at the Florence Park Care Center. Born July 13, 1923 in Owenton, he was the son of the late Brish and Dollie Baker Perkins. Also preceding him in death were his siblings, Edward Perkins, Lucille Beverly, Helen Towles, and Dorothy Davis. Mr. Perkins was a life long farmer, worked in construction and was a truck driver. He was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church. He proudly served his country during World War II in the Army. He saw action in the European Theater where he received a bronze star. Surviving are is his wife of nearly 70 years, Betty Jane Vannarsdall Perkins; his sons, Ronnie (Nancy) Perkins of Warsaw and Paul (Melinda) Perkins of Winchester; his daughters, Donna (Dr. Harry) Reynolds of Chicago, IL, Lula Parnell of Elsmere, Beverly (Joe) Brown of Atlanta, GA, Margaret (Dr. Joe) Delehanty of Rochester, NY and Teresa (John) Blackaby of Falmouth. Twenty one grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Saturday from 11am until the time of the service at 1pm. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery with Bro. Tom Hall presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to the Poplar Grove Baptist Church.
