Harold Wayne Harney

Harold Wayne Harney, age 80 of New Liberty passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the St. Elizabeth Hospice Center in Edgewood, KY.Born February 15, 1937, in Harrison County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Lawrence and Grace Fuller Harney.  He was the widower of Ruby Ann Rodgers Harney and was preceded in death by seven brothers and a sister.  Harold was a lifelong farmer with a passion for raising cattle.   He was a devout member of the New Liberty Baptist Church where he was a deacon.  He retired as a bus driver from the Owen County School Systems with over twenty years of service.  In his past time he enjoyed working jig-saw puzzles and golfing with family and friends.  Surviving are his children, David (Cristal) Harney and Wanda (Larry) Brown; his grandchildren, Rodney, Johnna, Codi and Jennifer Harney and Kevin Tuggle; his step-grandchildren, Ashley, Emily, Taylor and Karen; twelve great grandchildren and his brother Edward Harney.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Emory Eldridge presiding.  Burial will be in the Wheatley Masonic Cemetery and memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Hospice.
