Harold Gene Tipton, Sr.

Harold Gene Tipton, Sr., age 71, of Owenton, passed away at his home on Monday, May 25, 2020.

Born September 3, 1948, in Estill County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Samuel and Zula Russell Tipton.  He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters. Harold was retired from Duro Bag where he was a machinist and a supervisor.  He loved collecting and had a vast collection of pictures, die-cast cars, and clocks.  He enjoyed woodworking, raising flowers and hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 55 years, Mary Shuler Tipton; his children, Sandra K. Cheeks of Owenton and Harold Gene Tipton, Jr. of Verona; grandchildren, Amberly Corbett, Megan Logan, Aaron Tipton, and Bethany Tipton; great-grandchildren, Dallas Tipton, Grayson Logan, and Hannah Corbett; and his siblings, Carol Sue Brashear, Wanda Sizemore, Darlene Mauldin, Serenna Sizemore, and Gary Tipton, Sr.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Seminary Street location on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, from Noon - 2 pm.  This will be a pass-through visitation with social distancing and visitors are encouraged to wear masks. A graveside funeral will follow in the Owenton Cemetery with Bro. David "Milkweed" Wotier presiding. Memorial contributions may be made to Bluegrass Care Navigators.
