Hansford Sams

Hansford Sams, age 78, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Frankfort Regional Medical Center. Born May 10, 1935, in Manchester, KY, he was the son of the late Ruebin and Mae Allen Sams and the widower of Georganne Jackson Sams. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Mary Leslie Terrell Marston. Hansford was a member of Faith Baptist Church, a retired insurance salesman and began his working career as a teacher. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and was an avid UK sports fan. Surviving are his sons, Gregory Allen Sams and Derrick Wayne Sams of Atlanta; his brother, Ruebin Sams, Jr. of Manchester; his sisters, Christine Whicker of Columbus, IN and Mary Emily Goins of Manchester. Seven Grandchildren also survive, Mary Ashlee Marston, Amy Marie Marston, Kellee Dee Marston, and Tyler, Jason, Logan and Isaac Sams; and one great grandchild, Joseph Marston. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street funeral home on Thursday, February 13 from Noon until 2pm. Funeral services will follow at 2pm with Bro. Everett Hawkins presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made tot he American Heart Association.
