Greg Washington

William Gregory "Greg" Washington, age 71, of Owenton and formerly of Sparta, passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022 at Owenton Manor.

He was born March 28, 1951, in Sparta, KY, to the late James Willis and Maggie Mae Tolliver Washington.  He was a member of Park Ridge Baptist Church and will be long remembered for raising rare breed and carrier pigeons, doves, and quail. He was employed by the Square D Company for over 20 years and also worked at Rita's Furniture. Greg was very knowledgeable about plants and definitely had a 'green thumb'. He loved to be outdoors and would many times spend all day outside. When his children were young, he loved traveling and taking them on adventures, especially to Canada, Niagara Falls, and Gatlinburg.

Greg was preceded in death by his wife SherryPaul Washington and oldest son, William "Greg" Washington, Jr.; He leaves to mourn his passing his son, Andrew Washington and his wife Jenni; his step grandson, James Newman;  his two sisters Antionette Walden and Deborah Combs; a brother (cousin) Jerry Lawson; aunt, Edna Booker, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  A memorial service will be held at 11 am, on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Park Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Terrance Moore presiding
