Grace Jamaica Morgan

Grace Jamaica Miller Morgan, age 78, passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022, at Homestead Acute Care in Lexington.

Grace was proud to have been born and raised in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, specifically Campton, to the late Virgil L. and Lou Jackel Brooks Miller. She was the widow of Caldwell "Jack" Morgan and preceded in death by her younger sister, Rhodonna Miller Norris, her nieces, Lisa Samples and Elisabeth Howerton, and her nephew Chris Duryea. Grace graduated from Eastern High School in Louisville in 1961 and attended Cumberland College where she studied art. She went on to retire as an Executive Assistant in the Labor Cabinet with the Commonwealth of Kentucky. She was a member of Elkhorn Baptist Church, enjoyed hiking in the Natural Bridge area, and going antiquing.

She will be missed by her sons, Mike Abbott and James McCarthy both of Lexington; her grandson, Michael S. Abbott; and her beloved cocker spaniel, Murphy.

McDonald & New Funeral homes are in charge of arrangements.  A memorial gathering to honor Grace's life will be on her birthday, Saturday, June 25, 2022, from 2 - 5 pm at Celebration Center of Lexington, 1509 Trent Blvd, Lexington, KY 40515.  A memorial service will take place at 4 pm with Rev.
