Glenna Rose Clifton, age 77, of Owenton, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024, at her home.
Born December 5, 1946, in the Long Ridge community of Owen County, she was the daughter of the late Marvin and Ottie B. Johnson Miller. She was the widow of Sollie Clifton, Jr. and was also preceded in death by her siblings, Orville Miller and Mary Ola Garnett. Glenna was retired from the Kentucky State Police, where she was a supervisor in the Intelligence and Missing Persons Division. She was a devoted member of Owenton 1st Christian Church where she sang in the choir. Glenna was a longtime community servant in Owen County; she was one of the first three women who received training to be members of the Owen County Volunteer Fire Department and wrote a book about the fire department's history. She was also a founding member and Captain of the Owen County Search and Rescue. She was a member of the Kentucky Search Dog Association and the Owen County Historical Society. Glenna earned her green belt in karate, enjoyed reading, and most of all would do anything she could to help her family or friends.
She will be missed by her son, Tim (Amanda) Clifton; her grandchildren, Sarah, Brianna, and Harley Clifton; her great-grandson, Mason; and her brothers, Roy (Sheila) Miller and Dennis (Beverly) Miller.
New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on Monday, April 15, 2024, from 11 am until 2 pm. Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Jimmy Gray and Bro. John Thomas presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to 1st Christian Church, Owen County Volunteer Fire Department, or the Owen County Historical Society.
