Glenn David Cox, 61, of Owenton, died Wednesday, March 18, of a heart attack on his Owen County farm. He was born September 18, 1947, and was the son of Glenna Holbert Cox Schrader and the late Kenneth Cox. He was a member of ElBethel Christian Church. Besides being a life-long farmer and part-time carpenter, he served 2 ½ years in the U.S. Army, including 13 months in Vietnam. During his military tenure, he was a top-security military police officer, communications specialist, and sergeant. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by a brother, Garry Gene Cox; sister, Karen Cox Grisham; and granddaughter, Katy Renee Cox. Besides his mother, survivors include a son, David Cox (Karen)of Newport; daughter, Carolyn Eviston (Jimmy)of Newport; sister, Janice Ernst (Dick)of Frankfort; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a close friend of many years, Wanda Knight, and her family. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location of McDonald & New Funeral Home on Friday, March 20, from 4 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday with Bro. Jason Brown presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Foundation or the American Heart Association.
