Glen O. Duke, age 81, of Owenton passed away Wednesday, February 19th at his home surrounded by his family and friends. Born March 2, 1932, in Walthall, Mississippi, he was the son of the late Charles Tinsley and Eunice Castle Duke. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Charles Tanner Duke and his brothers, Hilton, Ralph, George and Fred Allen Duke. Glen served his country during the Korean Conflict, in the United States Navy and was the former Commander for the VFW Post 3119. Additionally, he was a retired professional land surveyor, farmer, developer, Kentucky Colonel and attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Glen is survived by his wife of 60 years, Eleanor "Ellie" Pierson Duke; his sons, Fred Pierson (Millie) Duke of Lexington and David Glen (Catherine) Duke of Frankfort; his brother, Paul Duke of Eupora, MS; three grandchildren, Mason Blair Duke, Logan Glen Duke and Jessica Marie Wilson and his great granddaughter, Naomi June West. McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Seminary street location on Monday, February 24th from 4-8pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11am with Rev. Dale Adkins presiding. Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Bluegrass; Hope Lodge, 1500 College Way, Lexington KY 40502 or the Markey Cancer Center. A memorial dinner will be held after the services at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, in the fellowship hall. Honorary pallbearers will be David Chappell, Malone Bourne and Vic Regnaud. Pallbearers will be Tommy Lewis, Jerry Kistner, Larry Tackett, Gerald Powell, Gayle Lee Stivers and Jimmy Sutherland.
