Gladys Barrett Bowling

Gladys Barrett Bowling, 90, of Owenton, passed away Friday, January 19, 2018, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Florence.Born June 27, 1927, in Clay County, KY, she was the daughter of the late John and Oma Wells Barrett.  She was the widow of Dr. Marurice Bowling and preceded in death by her brothers, Lawrence and Lester Barrett.  Gladys was a homemaker and member at First Christian Church where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School.  She was one of the original founders of the Owen County Clothing Center, was active in the Owen County Homemakers in her younger years and enjoyed bowling.She is survived by her children, Stuart (Suzie) Bowling, Janna (Tim) Nichol, Donna (Ron) McDonald, Don (Marcia) Bowling and Barry (Laurie) Bowling; her grandchildren, Stephen, Stephanie, Heather, Ryan, Craig, Leigh, Hannah, Landri, Kyle, Brady, Shepherd, Andi and Tyler; fourteen great-grandchildren and her sister Carolyn Tepker.  A host of extended family also survives.McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements.  Family will receive friends at the Owenton First Christian Church on Thursday, January 25, 2018, from 11 am until 2 pm.  Funeral services will follow at 2 pm with Bro. Greg Guy presiding.  Burial will be in the Owenton Cemetery.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the Owen County Children's Fund or Owenton First Christian Church.
