Gerry Kay Ennis, age 76, of Bagdad, KY, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville.
Born December 2, 1945, in Cincinnati, OH, she was the daughter of the late Raymond J. and Doris Lusby Bourne. Gerry was retired from the Commonwealth of KY, in the Division of Air Quality, where she wrote regulations to be presented to the legislature. She loved the Lord and was active in her church, Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shelbyville, where she was the pianist and sang with the choir. She also had a bachelor's degree in theology. Gerry enjoyed being with her family and having monthly dinners. She enjoyed a good remodeling project, painting and was passionate about animals.
She will be missed by her children, Christopher Ennis, Stephanie Ennis Quire, and Donna (Allan) Harrod; six grandchildren, April Quire (Brandon) Combs, Kayla Gaines, Alyssa, Matthew, Mark, and Annalise; four great-grandchildren, Aubrie, Paisley, Raegen, and Russell; her siblings, Marcia Kern, Danny (Gayle) Bourne, Herschel (late Betty Bourne) Bourne, and Gay (Mike) Snider. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 18, 2022, at 1 pm in the Owenton Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 3 pm at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shelbyville with a fellowship meal to follow.
