Geraldine Kemper Smith, 77, passed peacefully surrounded by family, to be with the Savior, in the afternoon of October 9, 2020.
Geri was a retired teacher’s aide for the Owen Co. school system. Monterey Baptist Church will miss her as they do her recently late husband, Foster Smith. Geri and Joe spent their 54 years of marriage in Monterey, Ky. Geri was born on December 8, 1942, in Jonesville Ky to Carl Kemper Noel and Agnes Vannarsdall Noel, 1 of 4 children.
Geri is survived by her sister Chee Chee Rogers, eldest son Bobby Cook, son Joe (Gina) Smith, and daughter Peggy (Paul) Grimes. Granny or Mama Geri as she was called by her grandchildren, Michael Cook, Cassie (Mark) Lashley, Brayden Cook, Madison Smith, Ethan (Missy) Grimes, and Machaela Grimes, will remember her as a giving, caring, and loving grandmother as well as her great-grandchildren Kaydin, Erin and Hannah Lashley. A life lived to give everything you can even though you may only have all your love to give is by definition Mama. Love you forever and always Geri...Mama Geri...Granny...Mama
McDonald & New Funeral Homes are in charge of arrangements. Family will receive friends at the Main Street location on November 14, 2020, from 10:30 - 1 pm. A memorial service will follow at 1 pm with Daniel Rogers presiding. Burial will follow in the Monterey Cemetery.
